Sign with Cherie
Sign with Cherie uses American Sign Language as a tool to empower early effective communication between parents, infants, children, teachers and caregivers. Infants may lack the fine motor skills necessary to produce spoken language, but they do not lack the conceptual ability to understand and use language. With the aide of sign language, children as young as eight months of age can tell you what they want, need, and feel, before they are able to verbalize.

Giving children the gift of early communication is a rather simple task. It does not require learning an entire new language or months of study, rather sign language teaches a few simple gestures that empower children to communicate. In the same way that crawling seems to stimulate a child’s interest in walking, signing provides an excellent bridge to verbal communication. Babies learn signs that represent ideas they can understand like "eat", "more," and "milk". This enables the child to replace some of their frustrated outbursts with hand gestures that tell you exactly what they want or need. This creates a bond that can greatly improve the relationship with their caregivers. By signing with your baby, you are establishing the foundation for a lifetime of successful communication.

Sign with Cherie presentations, workshops and classes are based on Dr. Joseph Garcia’s award-winning SIGN with your BABY® program and ASL. The SIGN with your BABY® program builds the communication skills for each child by reinforcing each word that is introduced by combining audio, visual and kinesthetic modes. ASL is an established language and all participants involved in the child’s language development have a common foundation for instruction. Without a unified system of communication, each individual family, and childcare facility could be faced with interpreting a unique set of signs from each child.

So come on and become a part of the growing number of families who have decided to encourage and enhance their child’s growth by introducing a few signs to their everyday lives and you will begin to relate to your child in a WHOLE NEW WAY!
