Tiny Oneders
Classes & Workshops

Course Description
Tiny Oneders classes are based on Joseph Garcia’s SIGN with your BabyTM program. Participants will learn how to have meaningful conversational exchanges with their pre-verbal infants utilizing signs borrowed from American Sign Language (ASL) and ˜home" signs.

Class objectives include offering parents an alternative method of communicating with their pre-verbal infant which will reduce communication frustrations, deepen parent-child bonds, give babies the means by which to express themselves thereby eliminating parental guesswork and parental anxiety and help parent and pre-verbal infant develop a cooperative communication style.

Current research is showing that infants who are taught to sign can communicate their needs earlier then those who do not sign. In addition, studies have shown that speech development can actually be accelerated.

During the four-week course participants can expect to acquire a signing vocabulary of approximately 50-75 words related to various topics (food, family, emotions, daily activities and more!). Participants will learn signs via storybooks, songs, videos and activities that can be easily incorporated into their home life.

Presenter Profile
Ana Gonzalez, BA in Counseling Psychology and graduate work in the fields of Psychology and Counseling Education.

My background includes being bilingual from birth giving me an appreciation for having an alternative means of communication. In addition, I have approximately ten years experience in the human service field focusing on family dynamics. I am fascinated by communication styles especially those between a parent and child.

I was introduced to the idea of giving infants an alternative means of communication via signing prior to my daughter’s birth. Since then I have done extensive research on the topic and was fortunate enough to discover the SIGN with your BABYTM program. I have been using the program since my daughter was born and have been so impressed with the results that I needed to help spread the news to other parents about this valuable and wonderful communication tool.
