Come Sign With Florisse!

Baby Signing classes offer you the opportunity to learn sign language which you can model and integrate in your daily communication with your baby. You will be amazed to see your preverbal baby express his/her needs as well as specific thoughts.

Level I course meets one hour per week for six weeks.
We will discuss the benefits of signing with your babies and how to get started. You will learn signs for the following lessons: First Signs, Snack and Mealtime, Bath and Body, Dirty Business (Dealing with Diapers) Clothes and Dressing and Bedtime.
For more fun, songs and signs will also be incorporated in the classes. [8 including hand-outs]

Level II course will further advance your signing skill for another six weeks. You will learn more signs for the following lessons: Favorite Animals, Family, Colors, Emotions, Play Time and Nature and Weather. More songs and signs will be learned in this course.

*You are welcome to bring your baby along.
*Mothers-to-be are encouraged to check these classes out.

Mommy and Me---Dancing, Singing and Signing
One hour sessions of dancing, singing and signing bring enjoyment to both parent and child while learning new songs and widening baby’s vocabulary. These sessions will be warmed up with signed storybook reading.

The 1.5 to 3 hour workshop for adults and daycare givers
consists of Benefts of Signing, Getting Started and Basic American Sign Language which you can use with your children or students.

Basic ASL
For anyone who wants to learn to communicate in sign language. Lessons consist of Fingerspelling, Vocabulary Signs, Daily Conversations, Deaf Culture, etc.

About Florisse Scouten
Florisse received her M.A in Deaf Education and M.Ed in Regular Education from Teachers College, Columbia University in New York City. Currently she is a teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing under the Department of Education of New York City. She holds two licenses under the state of New York---one in Deaf and Hard of Hearing (K-12) and another in Childhood Education. She has spent the past 12 years teaching students from pre-K to 12.
