Speaking Hands: Classes and Workshops by Stacy Lewis
Stacy learned the basics of American Sign Language in high school while interacting with a friend who was Deaf. Over the years, she let her skills dwindle from lack of use, but became interested again in her career as she came across more and more Deaf members of the community that she worked with. When her children were born, Stacy decided that she wanted to teach them the beauty of American Sign Language, and began working with them only months after birth. Stacys current goal is to become an interpreter for the Deaf and hard-of-hearing, dealing especially with babies and children. Her desire is to teach as many people as possible the benefits of signing with their children, and help them to find the satisfaction of early communication, just as she has with her own children.
