ABC me Sign offers the following child-parent classes:
ABC me Sign, Sing and Play Circle Time offers a variety of fun, interactive, educational classes to assist families in signing. These classes are offered in 10-week sessions for 45 minutes each week. In a playful, language-rich environment, parents, caregivers and children will build their American Sign Language (ASL) vocabulary through songs, games and storytelling.
It is our belief that by offering an environment rich in auditory, kinesthetic and visual experiences we can stimulate intellectual development while having fun and building ASL vocabularies.
*Fee is 5 for a 10-week session. Discounts given for a second child.
Babies and Toddlers is a circle time for parents and their infant or toddler ages 10 to 36 months. The goals of this class are to facilitate early communication between you and your child, reduce frustration for both of you, and provide age-appropriate stimulating language activities. Some of the ASL vocabulary covered for this age group includes: beginning words and phrases, animals, action words, basic food, family and daily routines in your childs life.
Toddler Time is a circle time for parents and their child 2 to 4 years old. This class continues to build receptive sign language skills for the children, provides increased ASL vocabulary for parents to model and focuses on developing expressive sign language skills for the children. This class role models how to rely on sign language for children who are still developing their speech. Signing vocabulary includes: animals, food, colors, feelings, vehicles, safety, weather and people.
Early Preschoolers is a circle time for parents and their 3 and 4 year olds. This class builds sign language skills through songs, games and storytelling. Children put sentences together in sign language and learn the manual alphabet (finger spelling) and numbers. Children learn about the calendar, opposites, name signs, people in the community and holidays through age-appropriate sign language activities.
