ABC me Sign®
Handy Communication for Infants and Young Children

ABC me Sign offers the following participatory workshops:
ABC me Sign Intro Workshop is a two-hour fun and interactive workshop designed for parents and caregivers of infants and toddlers. Come and learn how to enrich your child’s speech and language, boost vocabulary, increase self-confidence and stimulate intelligence through the use of American Sign Language (ASL).

Participants learn the optimal times and methods for signing with their child and how to incorporate signing into daily routines. Signs are taught that can help reduce stress and empower your child through this early mode of communication. Participants leave comfortable in their ability to sign and with a number of resources to help them continue to sign.

*Fee is for one parent.

ABC me Sign More Workshop is a one-and-a-half hour follow-up workshop for those who have completed the Intro Workshop and want to further their signing skills. This workshop is scheduled by request.

ABC me Sign Educators Workshop is a two-hour interactive course that introduces the concept of signing as an excellent way to augment existing curriculum. Come and learn the joys and benefits of American Sign Language through the use of age-appropriate songs and games! Educators learn about the compelling research in this area, resources to keep them signing in their classes and how to involve parents and are provided with vocabulary specific to classroom use.

ABC me Sign workshops can come to you! If you have a group and would like to meet at your location, then you can host an in-home or on-site workshop. This is a wonderful option for moms’ clubs, playgroups, child-care centers or any group of 6 or more. ABC me Sign offers the following child-parent classes:

ABC me Sign, Sing and Play Circle Time offers a variety of fun, interactive, educational classes to assist families in signing. These classes are offered in 10-week sessions for 45 minutes each week. In a playful, language-rich environment, parents, caregivers and children will build their American Sign Language (ASL) vocabulary through songs, games and storytelling.

It is our belief that by offering an environment rich in auditory, kinesthetic and visual experiences we can stimulate intellectual development while having fun and building ASL vocabularies.

*Fee is 5 for a 10-week session. Discounts given for a second child.

Babies and Toddlers is a circle time for parents and their infant or toddler ages 10 to 36 months. The goals of this class are to facilitate early communication between you and your child, reduce frustration for both of you, and provide age-appropriate stimulating language activities. Some of the ASL vocabulary covered for this age group includes: beginning words and phrases, animals, action words, basic food, family and daily routines in your child’s life.

Toddler Time is a circle time for parents and their child 2 to 4 years old. This class continues to build receptive sign language skills for the children, provides increased ASL vocabulary for parents to model and focuses on developing expressive sign language skills for the children. This class role models how to rely on sign language for children who are still developing their speech. Signing vocabulary includes: animals, food, colors, feelings, vehicles, safety, weather and people.

Early Preschoolers is a circle time for parents and their 3 and 4 year olds. This class builds sign language skills through songs, games and storytelling. Children put sentences together in sign language and learn the manual alphabet (finger spelling) and numbers. Children learn about the calendar, opposites, name signs, people in the community and holidays through age-appropriate sign language activities.
