I started taking American Sign Language Classes while working on my Bachelor of Arts-Liberal Studies at California State University, Chico. Most students chose Spanish, and French to fulfill their second language requirements, but I decided to take American Sign Language. I have a cousin who is deaf and was never able to communicate with him as a child, so I have always had a desire to learn ASL. I graduated in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree (Area of concentration: Child Development/Social Work). I recieved a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential in 2001, and recieved my Education Specialist Credential (Authorized Field: Moderate/Severe Disabilities) on May 19th 2005. I am continuing my education to work on my Early Childhood Special Education Authorization.
I am currently working as an Early Intervention Teacher. I work with children from birth to three that have Special Needs, and their families. I Adapt activities and materials for children with varied Special Needs, including children who are Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing.
