Sue’s Tiny Signers
Classes, Workshops & Presentations by Sue Stephenson

* Babies become less frustrated because they are able to express their thoughts and feelings. And you will know exactly what they want.

* By giving your infant the skills needed to communicate now, you will be giving your child the best opportunity to improve early language development.

* Babies tend to speak sooner. By age two, signers have an average vocabulary of 50 more words than non-signers. By age three, children exposed to signing have language skills approaching that expected of four year olds.

* Babies have a stronger bond with parents, siblings and other caregivers.

Presenter Profile
Hello Everyone! My name is Sue Stephenson. I live in Northwestern PA with my husband, Marc & our children, Isaiah & Rebekah. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Education of Persons with Hearing Loss from Indiana University of PA, a Masters in Special Education from Eastern Mennonite University and I am a Level 1 Certified Sign2me presenter.

Over the years, I have taught Community Sign Language Classes as well as classes for After-School Programs. I have also been a Sign Language Instructor for Adult Continuing Education Classes for the past three years. All of which I so greatly enjoy. I taught in the field of Education of the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing for six years and interpreted for a year before we were blessed with the birth of our son in 2006. I then accepted the wonderful full time job of staying at home with our son. What a true joy, privilege, & blessing this has been.

I began using ASL with my son when he was 6 months old and plan on teaching it to our second child as well. I could see his excitement when I would sign a word he knew. Eventually he began to sign back first "milk" and then "more" - this was so exciting for me.. and for him! Signing is a great way to communicate with babies! Now at 15 months old, he creates 2 word sentences! "Help please!"
