Presenter Profiles
Karen Horvath-

Growing up Hard of Hearing, Karen has always been interested in signing. Now with a Bachelors Degree in American Sign Language Interpreting, American Sign Language (ASL) is no longer a novelty but a way of life in the Horvath household.
Karen and her husband, Mike, have four wonderful girls ages 4 to 13 years. The three youngest have been exposed to sign from birth and continue to develop vocabulary in ASL and English everyday. Their youngest child is Deaf in one ear and Hard-of-Hearing in the other and produced her first sign "MILK" at the tender age of 3 1/2 months!
As well as being an instructor and a Nationally Certified Interpreter, Karen is SKI-HI Certified as a Parent Advisor to provide early intervention services to families with deaf or hard-of-hearing children. Karen is a "retired" Regional Coordinator for Sign2Me.

Karen specializes in workshops and presentations.

Antonette Needham-

Antonetteâ??s interest in ASL began in high school, when she began taking community classes. In college, as an Audiology/Speech Pathology major, she continued her ASL studies. One of her ASL instructors, whose parents were Deaf, suggested she look into interpreting, because of her aptitude for learning the language. After graduating and working for a few years, Antonette took her instructorâ??s advice and enrolled in an Interpreter Training Program at Bethel College. Antonette currently works as an interpreter, instructor, and is SKI-HI certified as a Parent Advisor to provide early intervention services to families with deaf or hard-of-hearing children.
When not working, Antonette is home signing with her son, who began signing at five months.

Antonette specializes in one-on-one tutoring, workshops and family classes.

Jennifer Kutcka-
Jennifer comes from a Deaf family and ASL is her native language. She is currently an instructor in the Bethel College American Sign Language Interpreter Training Program. Jennifer holds a degree in education and loves to open the wonderful world of American Sign Language up to all families.

Jennifer specializes in one-on-one tutoring with families that want to learn more than the basics. She is especially interested in working with children that have hearing loss and their families. Please ask for Jennifer if you want to go "deeper" with the language or learn more about Deaf Culture.
