Classes & Workshops by Robin Riveland
Long before your baby can speak, he/she has the ability to understand speech and has the desire to communicate. Based on the SIGN with your BABY â„¢ program, by Joseph Garcia, these classes and workshops promote the use of sign language as a method of early communication and bonding for infants, toddlers, caregivers, parents and family members.
Sound Beginnings classes and workshops are a benefit to the whole family. When using sign language with infants from very early on , you will learn how to decrease the frustration, and accelerate language development and self esteem in your very young child, as singing and signing encourage growth in all the areas of the brain (social, emotional, physical, cognitive, language and musical) These classes are based on the principle that children learn what they live. Join Sound Beginnings and enjoy singing and signing with your very young child.
A one day intense workshop will help provide a general overview of the benefits of singing and signing with your baby and will introduce you to some elementary signs and songs that you can begin using immediately.
The 6-week series offers parents and babies or caregivers interactive classes where the benefits of signing are taught along with ways to incorporate signing into daily activities. Each week a new set of signs is introduced and time to learn, practice and play games with the new signs is given.
A one week summer camp is also available where many hands on activities will be set to music and sign. Space is very limited and early registration is a must.
