Help Me Sign---a division of Help Me Speak
Helping children of all ages to communicate via signs
FREE Presentations-a brief overview and intro to signing with your baby or child. Available for any type of group (moms groups, church groups, schools, library, etc.)
Classes (Help Me Sign I & Help Me Sign II) are available for children of all ages:
babies (birth-18mo), toddlers (18mo-3yrs), young children (3-6yrs), and/or older children (7+yrs).
Classes give parents the opportunity to learn simple ASL signs and how to incorporate these signs into your child’s daily life. As a result of the repetition of signs in many aspects of your child’s day, parents should notice reduced frustration levels, for you and your child, as your child begins to express his/her wants and needs through signs and words.
Even if your child is already talking & is 18months+, teaching ASL is beneficial:
Help Me Sign I & II classes- provide developmental speech & language information, parental language strategies, explain the basics of sign language, instruct you in how to teach signs to your child, teach 10 theme signs per week, teach various play ideas, provide a resource list, teach how to sign a song, demonstrate signing while reading a book, and facilitate various play ideas. Both classes are theme based and are 1 hour/week for 6 weeks each. Attendance at classes is FREE for children whether you have a singleton, twins, triplets, or more!
Workshops are also available for parents/caregivers and childcare providers. In this "adults only workshop, the HELP ME SIGN I & II class format is presented in a 2 day, 3-hour session.
Signing, Singing, & Stories- 4wks; 1 hr/wk; A parent & child class;Signs are used in music, stories & play; children are grouped by age.
