Presenter Profile
**Wilma Pelletier**

I have for many years had a great desire to work with children, to help in some way to make a difference in their lives. I spent many years in the Information Technology field always wishing to change my career. When the opportunity presented itself I was thrilled. Becoming a Sign2me presenter will help me fulfill my vision and share my enthusiasm for this program with other families.

I have for the past two years been involved as a volunteer at the American School for the Deaf in West Hartford, CT.

I am a young grandmother of a signing grandson. Through him I had the opportunity to experience first hand the rewards of signing with your child.
I began signing with him when he was eight months old. The first time he used signs at the appropriate time was so exciting for both of us. You saw that the understanding was there and he was able to communicate his needs to me.

Research along with my personal experience, shows that using sign language enables children to learn the value of language at a very young age, increases their vocabulary, decreases their frustration, and builds their self-confidence.

**Nina Bellantone**

A few years ago I realized that my career aspirations would never be fulfilled if I did not pursue my dream of working with young children. In the fall of 2002 I returned to college. I am currently pursuing an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education as well as a Certificate in Deaf Studies at Northwestern Connecticut Community College in Winsted, CT. I have earned Deans List Honors for each semester and I have been rewarded with many positive experiences including my time as a volunteer at the American School for the Deaf in West Hartford, CT. Every chance I get to work with children reinforces the enthusiasm I have for my new career.

As a Sign2Me Presenter I have the opportunity to utilize my training and skills in the fields of Early Childhood Education and Deaf Studies passing the best of both along to children, parents, caregivers, and childcare professionals.
