Presenter Profile
Thirty years ago, Brenda Parker met her first deaf friends in college in Indiana. Learning sign language from her friends has given her an inside look at deaf culture & sign language. From Oklahoma City to Springfield, MO & Lancaster, SC. Everywhere she goes she seeks out deaf friends & they also find her at the public library.

Brenda taught elementary school for 10 years then started working in a Children’s Department at the public library. She loved it and finally found what she wanted to be when she grows up. A Children’s Librarian!! She’s been a Children’s Librarian now for 14 years. I hear she still hasn’t grown up! ha!

She uses sign language in her storytimes at the public library & as she visit child care centers in her community.

She loves it when deaf friends come to the library to look her up. She’s stuck on the deaf!

Brenda has a B.S. in Elementary Education & a Masters Degree in Library & Information Science and in Early Childhood.
