Tamara’s Experience
Tamara has a bachelor’s degree in Speech and Language Development and a master’s degree in Communication with an emphasis in education. She has studied sign language for over twenty-five years and has worked briefly as an educator for the deaf. She has taught all ages from nursery school to university students as well as adult education.
Tamara established "A Show of Hands" in March 2003. She provides sign language instruction and speech and language development tips to families of both hearing, typical children as well as those children with special needs. She has worked with many families from the Down Syndrome Association and The Resource Exchange and has served on the Board of Directors of the Pikes Peak Center on Deafness. She also provides consultation and training to local childcare centers such as the Air Force Academy, UCCS, and Handprints; the Colorado Assoc. for the Education of Young Children, and the Pikes Peak Library District, among others. Her class was recently featured on Fox 21 news in an effort to educate the public about the importance of using signs with young children. She has used sign language with her own daughter, Shayna.

Where? Who?

A family member is someone attached to or in a nuclear family (Dads, Moms, siblings, Grandparents, babysitters/nannies, etc.). Cousins and their Moms must pay a separate fee for their own family.
