I became interested in sign language as a child growing up in an area with a school for the deaf. There were many families in our community that spoke American Sign Language. Most everyone in the community learned some ASL, but I always wanted to learn more of it.

The desire to learn sign language stayed with me, so while studying special education in college I had the opportunity to also study American Sign Language. I loved the language then and still do.

I am happy to be able to pass it on to parents and their children. It’s amazing to watch a baby sign a want or need to their parents and then to see the parent’s faces light up when they understand what their child is communicating to them. I look forward to working with each family in the classes or workshops.
