Little Hands Baby Sign Language
Workshops by Denise Meyer
Learn Quickly and Have Fun!
Its amazing, but true! In just one 2-hour workshop, you can learn 75 child-relevant American Sign Language (ASL) signs to use with your baby while he or she is still too young to speak. Whereas it often takes as long as 24 months for a child to begin speaking, babies as young as 7-36 months can learn and use signs as a means of expressing their wants, needs, and feelings. Denise creates a learning environment that includes humor and practical tips to help learners easily remember signs. Through her engaging teaching style, attendees are amazed at how much they learn and are ready to use at home by the end of workshop.
Denise Meyer teaches Parent/Baby sign language in a variety of programs and settings, including through many community adult education programs, day care organizations, the Wilder Foundation, select churchs adult education programs, and by private arrangement. She has been retained by New Horizon Child Care Centers to teach their entire staff across the St. Paul and Minneapolis metro area. Her workshops have been featured on local television stations KARE 11, KMSP 9, FOX 29, PBS Ch. 2 and 17, as well as in numerous newspapers and magazines, including Minnesota Parent, Baby Times and St. Paul Pioneer Press.
Denise first learned American Sign Language as part of her undergraduate degree program in psychology and communications. She taught ASL to children and adults with communicative and developmental disabilities for a number of years with great success before to teaching parents of infant and toddler-age children how to use this powerful tool in their families since 2001.
