Presenter Profile: Jessica Kelly
JESSICA KELLY, Owner and Instructor

Jessica is mom to two sweet girls (born March 2009 and Aug 2012) - at 18 months her daughter knew over 200 signs. Both started signing at 5.5 months. Jessica has been using American Sign Language since 1992. She did her Bachelor’s practicum at Maryland School for the Deaf in the Speech and Language Department and she has worked at a summer camp for the Deaf/Hearing Impaired.

Jessica was a nanny and taught ASL to the little girl with whom she worked. Between the ages of 7 months and 18 months the child developed a comprehensive vocabulary of 100+ words and an expressive vocabulary of 50+ words. Jessica is also working with a non-profit organization called Handicapped Encounter Christ (HEC). HEC offers social and spiritual support to adults with physical disabilities. Currently Jess works in early intervention offering Developmental Therapy to children birth to 3 years of age with various developmental delays.

Jessica has a passion for interacting with people and she is dedicated to lifting up the dignity of all people and to energizing babies, parents, caregivers, and educators to reach their maximum potential. She believes that this program will empower children to express his/her needs and will allow for a significant reduction in frustration for both parent and child, making daily interaction more enjoyable.

A basic understanding of ASL can increase children’s social awareness of different methods of communication and will open children up to communicating with Deaf children with whom they come in contact. Jessica is dedicated to respecting Deaf culture and will be sure to express that respect in her classroom. Jessica is very excited to share this wonderful opportunity with you and your loved ones!
