About early childhood educator Linda Stoler
A speech language pathologist, early educator, literacy consultant, poet and song writer, Linda Stoler graduated with an M.A. in Speech-Language Pathology. Her more than 40 year career as a speech-language pathologist was fueled by her interest in and dedication to understanding the relationship between infant-toddler language development and a child’s ability to learn to read.
She is passionate about allowing the creative spirit of each child to be nurtured while involved in the learning process.
Linda was an early advocate of a multi modality approach to early language acquisition. She created The Multi-Modality Method combining original music, dance and American Sign Language. She was the co-creator of “Project Acclaim”, a curriculum that addressed the need for inspiring and diverse teaching methods for the development of early language and literacy skills for special needs children. Through songs, poetry, dance and American sign Language “Project Acclaim” has joyfully and successfully helped thousands of young children focus on and listen to one another as they develop social skills and achieve language proficiency.
In 1998 Linda, with the help of her husband Will, founded Willinda Communications, Inc., a music and video production company to support the use of the Multi-Modality Method for early language learning and literacy success. To date Willinda has produced four CDs, an American Sign Language music video and related teaching materials.
She recently completed (2007) an Independent ASHA Study research project using her methodology. She published an article in Homeschool Magazine titled “Music for Early Learning with Linda S. Stoler” in 2005.
Linda holds the Certificate of Clinical Competency, the highest level of certification in her field. She has taught at the college level and frequently conducts trainings and seminars in language development, literacy success and behavior management throughout the United States. Her five hour literacy course was approved by the State of Florida.
