Information Collection
Sign2Me^®, a Division of Northlight Communications, is the sole owner of the information collected on Sign2Me.com. Sign2Me^® /Northlight Communications collects information from our users at multiple locations on our Web site.

Registration
In order to use some services, including discussion forums, chats, and the Sign2Me® Instructors' Network, a user must first complete a registration form. During registration, a user is required to provide contact information (such as name and e-mail address) and is given the opportunity to tailor their personalized experience at Sign2Me.com. By accepting the Privacy Policy and User Agreement in registration, you expressly consent to our use and disclosure of your personally identifiable information.

Should the user express interest in receiving e-mail announcements, we use the gathered information to contact the user about products or services available on our site or from our company and/or valuable related products and services from our partners. It is optional, but encouraged, for the user to provide demographic information (such as location, Web site address, etc.), so we can provide a more personalized experience on our site.

Profile
We store information that we collect through registration, cookies, and/or log files, to create a profile of our users. A profile is stored information that we keep on individual users and details their viewing preferences. Consequently, collected information is tied to our users' personally identifiable information to provide offers and improve the content of the site and the experience for our users. This profile is used to tailor our user's visit to our Web site and, if the user has opted to receive such materials, to direct updates and/or related products or services to them.

Cookies
A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user's computer tied to information about the user. Cookies help speed the rate at which users navigate our site and will provide them with quick and easy access to a variety of areas on our site. We use both session and persistent cookies. For the session cookie, once users close their browser, the cookie simply terminates. A persistent cookie is a small text file stored on the user's hard drive for an extended period of time. Persistent cookies can be easily removed by following Internet browser help file directions.

By setting a persistent cookie on our site, users do not have to log in more than once, thereby saving time while on our site. If users reject the cookie, they may still use our site. The only drawback to this is that the user will be limited in some areas of our site. For example, the user will not be able to post to the discussion forum or access contact information for some users.

Log Files
Like most standard Web site servers, we use log files. This includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks to analyze trends, administer the site, track user's movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses are tied to personally identifiable information only for users who log into the site, and are then used only to prevent abuse of user accounts by malicious third parties.

User Communications
Both during registration and via their Member Profile page, members of this site are given the opportunity to allow other members to contact them directly. To protect our users and prevent malicious third parties from using Sign2Me.com resources for improper purposes, we do not publically provide the e-mail addresses of our members, choosing rather to provide a Contact Form to all registered members. All communications sent via the Contact Form will be collected and stored by Sign2Me^® /Northlight Communications.

Registration
Upon registration, new members will receive an introductory e-mail to verify their username and password and to provide instructions for logging into the discussion forum.

Password Reminder
Members who forget their username and/or password can access our Password Reminder, a secure automated system that will automatically e-mail login information to verified members, using the email address that they provided to us when they registered.

News & Announcements
Members who choose to receive our News & Announcements updates will occasionally receive information on Sign2Me® products, services, and new and improved features on our site. Out of respect for the privacy of our users, we present the option to not receive these types of communications. Please see the Choice and Opt-out sections.

Special Offers
Members who choose to receive our Special Offers updates will occasionally receive information on recommended products and/or services that we feel may prove valuable to our members. Out of respect for the privacy of our users, we present the option to not receive these types of communications. Please see the Choice and Opt-out sections.

Legal Disclaimer
Though we aim to preserve user privacy, we may need to disclose personal information when required by law wherein we have a good-faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with a current judicial proceeding, court order, or legal process served on our Web site.

Aggregate Information (non-personally identifiable)
We may share aggregated demographic information with our partners and advertisers. This is not linked to any personally identifiable information.

Third Party Advertisers
Sign2Me/Northlight Communications may share Web site usage information about users with a reputable third party for the purpose of targeting our Internet banner advertisements on this site and other sites. For example, Sign2Me/Northlight Communications may use cookies or clear GIFs on this site, which would allow them to recognize a user's cookie when a user visits this site. The information they collect and share through this technology is not personally identifiable.

Service Providers
We may partner with other third parties to provide specific offers or services. When "Receive special offers on third party products/services via e-mail" is enabled in the user's Member Profile, we may share names or other contact information that is necessary for the third party to provide information about these products/services.

Business Transitions
In the event that Sign2Me^® /NorthlightCommunications goes through a business transition, such as a merger, being acquired by another company, or selling a portion or all of its assets, users' personal information will, in most instances, be part of the assets transferred. In this event, the information of all users who chose to be notified of new Sign2Me products and services will remain available when acquired by the new company. Users who chose "Receive special offers on third party products/services via e-mail" may be added to the products/services notification list of said new company.

Choice/Opt-out
Our users are given the opportunity to 'opt-out' of having their information used for purposes not directly related to our site at the point where we ask for information. For example, our registration form has an 'opt-out' mechanism so users who become registered members, but do not wish to receive any marketing material, notices, news, or updates on our program, can keep their e-mail address off of our active e-mail lists.

Users who no longer wish to receive our newsletter and promotional communications may opt-out of receiving these communications by visiting our Web site and editing the communications preferences in their Member Profile.

We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our site to read the privacy statements of each and every Web site that collects personally identifiable information. Our privacy statement applies solely to information collected by our Web site.

This Web site takes reasonable and diligent precautions to protect our users' information through the use of SSL (Secure Socket Layers)-encrypted transactions and secure third party Web and database hosting. However, it is impossible to guarantee the security and/or protection of such information, as "bullet proof" security is impossible on the Internet. Notification of Changes
If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes to this privacy statement, and other places we deem appropriate so that our users may stay informed of our policies. We will use information in accordance with the current privacy policy.

If, however, we are going to use users' personally identifiable information in a manner different from that stated at the time of collection we will notify users via their most recent e-mail address. However, any changes of use shall be posted to the web site and become effective, regardless of notification, thirty (30) days after the date such information is first posted to the web site. Users will have a choice as to whether or not we use their information in this different manner. However, if users have opted out of all communication with the site, or deleted/deactivated their account, then they will not be contacted, nor will their personal information be used in this new manner.
